‘The Roommate’ on Broadway: Get tickets to see Mia Farrow and Patti LuPone (2024)

There’s a new odd couple in town.

On Thursday, Sept. 12, the new Broadway play “The Roommate” co-starring three-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone and Golden Globe winner Mia Farrow will officially open at Broadway’s Booth Theatre.

The show, about a demure divorcée (Farrow) striking up an unlikely friendship with her rambunctious housemate (LuPone), may come as a bit of a surprise for theater fans due to the actress’ respective Broadway histories.

In 2022, LuPone dramatically left the labor union Actor’s Equity; Farrow hasn’t acted in a proper play on the Great White Way —excluding readings — since 1979’s “Romantic Comedy” opposite Anthony Perkins.

“We’re at a point in rehearsal where it’s actually getting fun,” the 79-year-old Farrow told the New York Times. “So I’m thinking I’m opening a door that I may never open again. …”

“And it would be our loss if you don’t open the door again,” LuPone, 75, replied. “Because you’reso great. There’s something so magical about you, Mia!”

If you’d like to see the two living legends live, tickets are available for all upcoming “The Roommate” shows.

Based on our findings, ticket prices start at $55 before fees on Vivid Seats at the time of publication.

“The Roommate” cast

In the off chance you’re not familiar with LuPone and Farrow, here’s a bit about each.

Patti LuPone got her start on Broadway in “Three Sisters” back in 1973. Since, she’s won three Tonys for her work in “Evita,” “Gypsy” and “Company” and has been nominated seven more times. Her most notable TV and film roles include “30 Rock,” “American Horror Story,” “Will & Grace,” “Beau Is Afraid” and “Witness.” She’s also slated to appear in the Marvel series “Agatha All Along,” due out on Sept. 18, 2024.

Mia Farrow has been steadily working since she got her start on the soap opera “Peyton Place” in the mid-’60s. Fans may know her most for her work in “Rosemary’s Baby,” “The Great Gatsby” and “Be Kind Rewind” in addition to her decade-long collaboration with her ex-husband Woody Allen, who was publicly accused of sexually abusing Dylan Farrow, their adopted daughter.
